Research Areas
Pattern recognition: The research focus in the last two years have been on the face recognition problem. After initial explorations around dimensionality reduction techniques, I have built new classifiers that have outperformed other classifiers in terms of recognition rates and computational complexity. I am currently working on the FRGC v 1.0 dataset. I intend to extend to scope of my research to other biometrics such as iris, palm print and hand geometry. My interest in pattern also extends to related areas such as document ranking and machine learning. I have also been involved in consultancies in machine vision and document processing.
Cryptography: The focus is on design and cryptanalysis stream ciphers. I am particularly interested in the theory of feedback with carry shift registers (FCSR) - a nonlinear variant of linear feedback shift registers proposed by Klapper and Goresky.
